With over 35 years of distinguished experience, she has been the guiding light for countless American and international families navigating the intricate and ever-changing landscape of college admissions. Her work is defined by wisdom, compassion, and an unshakable commitment to empowering students to achieve their dreams. As a leader in personal student counseling and parent education, Dr. Annalee approaches each family with a profound understanding of the critical connection between a child’s mental, emotional, and social well-being and their academic success. Her philosophy is rooted in the belief that every student deserves to feel valued, confident, and prepared to thrive in the next chapter of their educational journey. By fostering deep, trusting relationships, she provides students with the clarity, confidence, and resilience needed to succeed during this pivotal life transition.

Dr. Annalee’s global influence began early in her career, setting her apart as a pioneer in international college counseling. She was among the first American advisors to visit China, breaking new ground in supporting Chinese students pursuing education in the United States. Her unmatched cultural fluency and expertise in cross-cultural counseling have made her a trusted advisor to families across Asia and beyond.

In 2007, Dr. Annalee was appointed U.S. consultant to the Jiangsu Education Services for International Exchange (JESIE), an esteemed branch of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education dedicated to fostering international educational collaboration. By 2010, she became the exclusive U.S. advisor to New Oriental, China’s largest education company, where she revolutionized access to American higher education for thousands of students. She also facilitated unprecedented outreach, arranging visits for over 100 highly selective U.S. admissions officers to China, solidifying her reputation as a global connector and innovator. Before founding the Education Advisory Group, Dr. Annalee served as an independent college counselor, lending her expertise and mentoring over fifty college counselors working with international students.

She has personally guided over 1,000 families from the U.S., China, Canada, New Zealand, Myanmar, and India. Her students have gained admission to every top 200 U.S. college, while her mentorship has shaped the careers of over 60 college counselors, setting a new standard for excellence in the field.

Dr. Annalee’s groundbreaking contributions have earned her recognition at the highest levels. She is one of only 12 counselors to have served on the U.S. News & World Report College Counselors Advisory Board, and her leadership has been honored by esteemed institutions, including the University of North Carolina, Washington University, and St. Louis University, where she serves on their College Counselor Boards. As a Counselor Trainer and Supervisor for College Bound St. Louis, she continues to expand access to life-changing educational opportunities for underserved communities.

Katy-Jane brings over 15 years of unparalleled experience in college admissions, having worked on both sides of the desk. As an undergraduate admissions officer at Loyola University Chicago for more than a decade and later as the Director of College Counseling at a highly regarded high school, she has cultivated an exceptional understanding of the college admissions landscape and what admission officers look for in a candidate.

Her students have been accepted to some of the nation’s most prestigious institutions, including Dartmouth, Duke, Washington University in St. Louis, Vanderbilt, the University of Michigan, Stanford, and the University of Chicago.

Additionally, Katy-Jane has developed strong connections with leading liberal arts colleges such as Davidson, Rhodes, Vassar, and the University of Richmond, enabling her to provide students with comprehensive guidance tailored to their aspirations. She is regularly invited to be part of Counselor Fly-in programs where she visits campuses and spends time with the Admission Teams.

Dr. Yu Sun

Dr. Yu Sun

CS Expert Student Advisor

Professor in the Department of Computer Science at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, dedicated to innovation and advancement in computer science education. He serves as the Director of California’s Computer Science Teacher Certification Training Program and actively promotes the development of CS education across the state.

Dr. Sun is also the founder of Coding Mind, an organization focused on cultivating computer science and AI skills among youth.

In addition, he is a professor at Vanderbilt University’s Department of Computer Science and plays key leadership roles in several national initiatives. These include serving as the Director of the NSA-funded Youth Cybersecurity Training Program (GenCyber) and the Principal Investigator of the NSF-funded Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) initiative to expand access to CS education.

Dr. Sun’s research has received the CES Mobile Software of the Year Award and has played a pivotal role in Google’s IgniteCS computer science outreach program. He also serves as an advisor on the College Board’s AP Computer Science Curriculum and Exam Development Committee, contributing to the standardization and promotion of computer science education nationwide.

As the Director of College Counseling at two highly respected college-prep high schools, she has worked with students from all backgrounds, guiding them to discover and achieve their unique academic and personal aspirations.

Her students have been admitted to the most selective universities in the world, including every Ivy League school, MIT, Caltech, Duke, Tufts, Washington University in St. Louis, Rice, Emory, Vanderbilt, the University of Michigan, Amherst, McGill, Oxford, Edinburgh, St. Andrews, and hundreds more. Carolyn’s commitment to student success extends to her own family—her son graduated from Harvard University in 2022 with a degree in Neuroscience, and she has supported her family members in gaining admission to American University, Duke, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard/MIT for graduate studies in computer science (graduated in 2023).

Highly respected in the college admissions world, Carolyn is known not only for her expertise but also for her genuine care and dedication to each student she works with. She has been invited to serve on advisory boards for numerous universities, including Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, the University of Pennsylvania, Miami University, The Ohio State University, SMU, and Indiana University.

In 2023, Carolyn was elected by more than 1,000 universities that are members of the Common Application to serve as one of three high school representatives on its Board of Directors—a testament to her influence and leadership in the field. She also contributes her insights as a member of the advisory and editorial committee for the Fiske Guide to Colleges, the gold standard for college guides for nearly 40 years.

Beth brings a wealth of global teaching experience and expertise to the EDUCATION ADVISORY GROUP team, with a career dedicated to empowering students to achieve their academic and personal goals. At Middlebury, Beth worked with international students to elevate their language proficiency to thrive at the graduate level. Her courses went beyond language acquisition, introducing students to the formal and informal expectations of American higher education, pedagogy, and second-language acquisition techniques.

A Middlebury graduate with a master’s in Applied Linguistics/ESL, Beth is a recognized expert in communication and public speaking. She has developed and led interview training programs, equipping students with the skills and confidence needed to excel in Admission officer interviews.

Beth’s six years of teaching in China, Canada, Taiwan, and the United States have further enriched her ability to connect with students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Passionate about building strong relationships, she brings enthusiasm, energy, and a student-centered approach to every interaction.

Beth specializes in helping students discover their interests and create impactful extracurricular pathways, making her an exceptional fit for young learners in 9th and 10th grade. His career extends beyond traditional counseling; he served as Director of International Business Development for a leading test preparation company, where he visited over 150 high schools across 30 countries and five continents. In this role, he collaborated with counselors and students to demystify the college admissions process and provide strategic insights on standardized testing.
